It’s official – summer’s here! Although when the sun is out it’s not ideal for lugging heavy carpet cleaning machines around that's more than compensated by the long evenings and a welcome lack of rain (thunder storms aside).
June sees us welcome a new technician to the team in the shape of Dave Marriage who started training with us a couple of weeks ago. We've known Dave for many years and after he suggested he might fancy a change in career we were very happy to welcome him on board. He's one of the loveliest people you can meet and a great addition to the company.
All the best

Looking after Fabric Upholstery
Whether it's an old, comfy armchair in which to read the paper or the sofa we like to slob out on on a Saturday night, upholstered furniture is an integral part of our daily lives. As such, we've put together a few helpful hints to keep your upholstery looking better for longer:
Turn the Cushions
Turning the cushions will help to distribute wear, help to stop indentations from forming and help to keep them in shape. On a sofa, in addition to just turning them over, it’s also worth moving the cushions from one position to another in order to further distribute the wear.
The general recommendation is to vacuum your upholstery on a weekly basis, which will help to remove loose dirt and importantly stop that dirt from becoming engrained. Go over the cushions, arms and back with an upholstery tool and try and get into all the nooks and crannies as well.
Brush the Fabric
Much as with carpets, dust and dirt will settle on upholstery and every time we sit down that dust and dirt will become more engrained. Regular vacuuming is great for removing the dirt when it’s loose, but brushing just before you vacuum will help to loosen it up and make the vacuuming more effective. Make sure you use a soft brush though so you don't damage the fabric.
Ultraviolet rays can break down chemical bonds, which in turn can cause fabrics to fade, especially with prolonged exposure. If you can, try and keep your upholstery out of direct sunlight.
Accidents can happen and if they do, blot up any spills immediately with a clean towel. Never rub at the spill and never over wet the area. Try some warm water and touch of washing up liquid in a spray bottle, damp the area and blot dry again. If in any doubt, please give us a call and we'll be happy to help.
We've recently revamped our website, which hopefully no only looks a little better, but provides more information on the additional services we can carry out such as rug cleaning, curtain cleaning and mattress cleaning.
Any comments or suggestions about how we can continue to improve it are always gratefully received.
